Grants available
The new 'Better Energy Programme' has been launched by SEAI which offers the following: €200 towards attic insulation, €320 towards cavity wall insulation, €4000 towards external wall insulaiton, €2000 towards internal dry lining, €560 towards oil or gas boiler upgrade with heating controls, €400 for heating controls & €800 towards solar heating. There is also a grant of €80 for your ber certificate which is mandatory on the completion of the improvement works. What is a Building Energy Rating Certificate (BER Cert)?
The Building Energy Rating Certificate (BER Cert) is part of the Energy Performance of Buildings EU Directive. It is also referred to as a ber, building energy rating, ber cert, ber certificate or building energy rating certificate. The aim of the EU Directive is to make the energy performance of a building transparent and available to potential purchasers or tenants.
A Building Energy Rating (BER) is simply a survey to investigate building fabric and building services that are incorporated within your house and in turn to see how good it is at using energy.
